Clouds rolled by above you as you lay on a small hill at your local park. The wind blew from your head down your body, sending light shivers and tingles down your back. A flock of Canadian Geese interrupted your line of sight and weaved in and out of the clouds. You weren't annoyed one bit. In fact, you were delighted to see them and couldn't wait to see them again.
The reason was that you had never heard what geese sound like before, or anything else in the world was because you were deaf. Your world was silent from day one and you had to rely on your imagination to add sounds.
You were going in for a surgery this afternoon to let you hear. The surgeon was well known and his success rate was phenomenal. You couldn't wait to go through with it. One of the first things that you want to hear more than anything in the world is the voice of Toris Laurinatis, your long-time friend and crush.
He was the first person outside of your family to treat you with respect and patience and in turn, you gave him twice as much to what he gave you. Perhaps you gave him more because your feelings toward him were more than friendship.
When you sat up, you noticed Toris by the tree at the bottom of the hill. You smiled and were about to run down to him until you saw another person with him. It was a blonde girl with an odd dress and a huge smile was spread across her face. You looked to Toris and he was moving his lips in a nervous smile.
"I want you and your beautiful soul..." The girl next to him had a smile stretched across her face and jumped up and down for joy. Your heart sank to your stomach when you saw Toris' smile becoming more confident and happy towards her.
You turned around and started walking up the hill back home. You wanted to cry your heart out. Toris shared everything with you. There were no secrets. You were never separated for very long. You loved him.
You were quiet for most of the day. Your mother tried to get your attention and asked you what was wrong but you only replied you were nervous for the surgery. You stared out the window to the farmer's fields on the drive to the hospital. You thought of a rather depressing metaphor as the scenery flew by you. After you could hear, what was there for you? You saw your future as vast and empty like a farmer's field. Without Toris, your future seemed useless and empty.
When you arrived at the clinic, you went through triage quickly and waited for only a few minutes after you received your robes before going to the operation room. The bed was lowered so you could climb onto it with ease.
Within a few moments, you felt a sting in your hand and your head started spinning before you were transported to a vast meadow. You were transformed back into a child and couldn’t comprehend why or how this happened. Despite this change, you were not at all scared. This was a warm place, it was safe.
Sunflowers towered over you in a large patch. You walked through them like you were wandering through a maze, looking up at the huge petals. They were warm and gave you a happy feeling. You wandered through the patch for hours, keeping your gaze at the towering flowers and the sky. You occasionally turned your attention to the ground, looking around for something familiar. Once you got out of the sunflower patch, you saw a Toris as a child, smiling at you with his usual sweet but slightly sad smile.
You wanted to run. You didn’t want him to tell you that he didn’t want to be with you. You didn’t want the first words that you hear from him would be he would rather be with someone else than you. Your feet refused to flee, begging you to stay because there was something worthwhile out of this.
Toris just stood there, extending his hand to you, with his smile never wavering. You step toward him and place your hand in his. You wanted to hang on tightly and never let him go. You love him so much. He was the first one to let you hear from his heart. You didn’t want to lose your precious treasure.
“You don’t need to be scared, _______________.” Toris said. “This is a place where nothing is lost or ever dies. I will always be by your side.” His voice faded away as a blinding light engulfed your dreamland. Soon, strange sounds entered your mind as your weary mind was straining to recognize your current surroundings.
“And she’s awake.” You were staring at a figure in green. You look at the source and it was a male doctor. It didn’t take long to figure out that males and females have a different range of voices. You had somehow pictured people to sound monotone. You recalled when your parents held you in a hug and spoke, the vibrations coming from their throats were more or less the same and you thought they would sound the same.
How wrong you were. You forced yourself to remain awake to take in all the new and strange noises within your room.
“Hello ______________.” A low toned voice came from the doorway and you turned your head. Toris was standing there with three roses in his hand. You admitted to yourself that you did not want to see him, especially not when he was confessing to another girl right before your eyes. On the other hand, you wanted to hear his voice more than anything in the world.
“Toris…” You smile a bit.
“How are you feeling?” His kind smile never wavered once as he approached you.
“Woozy… And really funny in general. But I’m starting to hear. I couldn’t be happier.” Toris laughed unexpectedly and turned to the side to hide his face. You felt a bit hurt and thought laughter was a cruel thing to have. You thought he was teasing you.
Toris calmed down and composed himself, trying so hard not to burst out laughing.
“Forgive me, ______________. I meant no disrespect whatsoever. I was going to say that I believe that you could be happier. Please hear me out.”
“Alright.” You lean back against your bed and let him take a few steps back to where he was in the middle of the room. He started dancing a little bit and started talking in the strangest tone.
“I don't want another pretty face
I don't want just anyone to hold
I don't want my love to go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul
I know that you are something special
To you I'd be always faithful
I want to be what you always needed
Then I hope you'll see the heart in me… “ Toris took a step back and bowed shakily and started laughing a bit again with a blush across his cheeks.
“I’m sorry, ____________________. This is the best I could do. I laugh when I get embarrassed.”
“That was beautiful, Toris.” You look at him and a shy smile formed from the tugging of your cheeks. “But do you really mean what you said? You want me?”
“Every word of it.” He sat on the bed right next to your leg and handed the small bouquet for you. “These are for you. I… Kinda wanted the first words that you hear were ‘I love you’.”

“My hardworking servants please come here at once” Toris heard his employer’s voice and wasted no time bolting into the tall nation’s study. He was joined by Eduard and Ravis as they stood before Ivan Braginsky or Russia.
“Yes, what is it Mr. Russia?” he courageously asked. “I was thinking that, since my sunflower suggested that I should go visit her in her homeland in the tropics for a whole week, I give you permission to take a break from your daily duties and rest. I believe that you three deserved it” the Baltic nations looked

You smiled gently to your husband as you held the board close to your chest. He was working on things for his country but you knew he would make time for a game of chess. He was great at it and often was how you two spent most of your time right now. He got slammed by his boss with paper work and Poland was always calling wanting to come over and see you two or three. You smiled a bit as he started clearing off his desk and soon got up and pulled your chair over.
“So how are you today?” he hugged you gently around the waist and you smiled.
“I’m great Toris.” He smiled and soon knelt down and kissed your stomach
